Avalanche accidents have been happening in the mountains since humans first started traveling within them and we learn about this evolution of winter recreation and avalanche safety.
In “To the Hills and Back”, we follow 3 real stories and learn from both mistakes avoided and mistakes made in the mountains.
Many of these stories share striking similarities to those we know about and hit very close to home. Unfortunate mistakes, common pitfalls, and decision points where things may have gone astray can all lead to unfortunate consequences.
This is your chance to learn from the wise who have journeyed a long life in these mountains and from those who have not been as fortunate.

To the Hills and Back premiered at Banff Mountain Film Festival on November 5 to a standing ovation and was selected for the Banff world tour. It won Best Mountain Culture Film at Whistler Film Festival and it has been selected for the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival and Sheffield Adventure Film Festival.
