Come kick off the 3rd Annual Avalanche Awareness Week with the Utah Avalanche Center! In 2019, the Utah Legislature passed House Bill 380, which recognizes the first week of December as Avalanche Awareness Week. Join the UAC, Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation, Utah State Parks, Wasatch Backcountry Rescue, and Salt Lake County Search and Rescue at Sugarhouse Park to learn more about how to stay safe in the backcountry this winter.

Feeling a bit rusty with your rescue gear? Have you and your touring partners talked about practicing with your transceivers, but just haven't found the time during a tour to do it? Well, have we got an opportunity for you!

The Utah Avalanche Center will be down at the park hosting avalanche rescue practice scenarios. On-site, we will have a crew of avalanche professionals running transceiver practice scenarios and helping you with tricks and tips to help you hone in on your rescue skills and get you tuned up for the winter. This is also a great chance to ask some local pros questions about all things avalanches.

*This is not a substitute for the instruction you will receive in an Avalanche Rescue Course, merely an opportunity to gain more repetition and practice for the community.
